Applications can be made to the Election Commission (EC) for the registration of the new party till April 25. The National Citizens Party (NCP) has applied for the EC for another three months.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin's personal secretary Ashraful Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday.
It is learned that so far six parties have applied, but five parties have applied for extension of time. A team applied for registration but it was not appropriate. Among them are the National Citizens Party-NCP.
Meanwhile, the Election Commissioner said. Anwarul Islam said on Wednesday that April 25 was the last day to submit the application for registration. There is no plan to extend the time so far.
Anwarul Islam said, “We are preparing for the vote by targeting the deadline announced by the chief adviser. We would like to have a dialogue in August-September after completing the registration program within three months. '
According to the law, if you want to select their symbol, the concerned party has to register from the EC. If the NCP wants to vote for your symbol in the next election, you will have to register.
NCP meeting with CEC
The NCP is seeking the CEC meeting next Sunday (April 23). CEC AMM Nasir Uddin will meet with the party at 12 noon that day.
In a letter to the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat for the registration of the new party for the registration of the new party, the NCP said that the National Citizens Party (NCP) was established in light of the expectations of the masses in the historic July mass uprising. After the mass uprising said. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus started various reforms. In the meantime, a commission was formed to reform the electoral system and the commission gave them a report to the authorities, but there was no visible progress in the basic reform program.
The current Election Commission issued a notice on March 7 for the registration of the political party, without the basic reforms of the Election Commission and existing law. Before the reform, the publication of the notice quickly sparked criticism in the political and social environment of the country.
It should be noted that under the registration rules and relevant law of 20, political parties registration terms are completely unreasonable and unconstitutional. These rules, made during the previous autocratic government, are made to narrow political pluralism and consolidate power. The Election System Reform Commission itself has proposed to renew the registration of registered parties in every five years as well as facilitating the conditions for setting up offices at the district level and 5 percent at the upazila level.
In addition, the current structure of the Election Commission and the appointment of individuals have been completed through the search committee formed under the 2222 law. In this recruitment process has been widely criticized for lack of transparency, political influence and neutrality, which is undergoing essential credibility for free and neutral elections. Therefore, in the light of the recommendation of the current election system reform commission, the necessary laws and regulations need to be prepared or amended registration activities. In addition, in the light of basic reforms, the Election Commission will also reorganize, registration of new political parties, update the registered party registration.
In this case, the basic reforms related to the Election Commission and the application for the registration of the new political party are being requested to extend the deadline for another 7 days.
