Leaders-activists of Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) from Dhaka Metropolitan North held a torch march demanding justice for all rapes and murders in the country, including the Pallavi incident in the capital. The procession ends at Shahbagh from Banglamotor. In the torch procession, the leaders-activists chanted various slogans including ‘Tanu-Ramisa-Achiya, Bichar hai Jhulia’.
Today, Thursday night at 9 pm, the torch procession started under the party’s central office (temporary) at Banglamotor after the initial rally.
Ariful Islam Adeeb, the central senior joint convener of NCP and the convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North, said that the child of Pallabir in Mirpur, Tanu in cantonment, Munia in Bashundhara or the student of DU were tortured and killed. At the same time sexual harassment occurs in political parties in the name of pleasing the leader.
The leader of NCP also said, I will tell the Prime Minister – everyone should be arrested after investigating this matter from the party. In cases of rape and murder, speedy justice must be implemented. All political parties should form ‘Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell’.
Dhaka Metropolitan North NCP Acting Member Secretary Sadia Farzana Dina said, we have to change the attitude towards women in our country. He should be treated with respect and reverence.
Dhaka Metropolitan North NCP joint member secretary Abdullah Al Mansoor also spoke at the rally – senior joint convener Saiful Islam, Yuva Shakti West president Touhidul Islam Tuhin.
Tahmina Sharmin Juthi, Central Member of National Women’s Shakti, Omar Farooq, Joint Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North NCP, Wahid Alam, Khaleda Akhter, Co-Organizing Secretary Noor Amin Khan, Joint Member Secretary Wahiduzzaman Suman, Pallabi Thana NCP Chief Coordinator Rehena Akhter Ruma and others were present in the torch march.
