Nagpur Police Seized 17 kg Gold and 55 kg Silver Rs 14 Crore Amid Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024


Nagpur Police Seized 17 kg Gold: In view of the assembly elections in Maharashtra, police checking is also being done continuously on the roads. A close watch is being kept on the incoming and outgoing vehicles. Meanwhile, 17 kg gold and 55 kg silver were recovered from a vehicle in Nagpur on Saturday (16 November). Whose price is said to be around Rs 14 crore. The police have taken this action keeping in mind the code of conduct in view of the assembly elections.

According to ABP Majha, on Saturday evening, when the road was blocked in front of Nagpur University, the vehicle of the supply company 'Sequel Logistics' was stopped by a team of police and Election Commission officials. 17 kg gold and 55 kg silver plates were found in the van as jewellery. This gold and silver was being transported to the establishments of different bullion traders of Vidarbha as per their orders.

Bullion traders had ordered gold jewelery

It has been told that these gold jewelery and silver plates have been ordered by bullion traders from various cities of Vidarbha including Nagpur, Akola, Amravati. It is also being said that the relevant documents and bills were with the Sequel Logistics Company but they did not have the necessary permission to transport such a large quantity of gold and silver during the Model Code of Conduct in view of the Assembly elections.

Gold jewelery and silver plates seized in Nagpur

For this reason, the investigation team has seized the concerned gold jewelery and silver plates and the Income Tax Department as well as the GST Department have been informed in this regard. The investigation of the matter is ongoing. Let us tell you that voting is going to be held for all 288 seats in Maharashtra in a single phase on 20th November, while the election results will be declared on 23rd November.
