A few years ago popular actor Chanchal Chowdhury played the role of Misir Ali. The audience was also impressed by his performance in the movie Devi. His thoughts on Misir Ali’s character are also different.

In reply, Humayan Ahmed used to say that the writer lives in the characters written by the writer. So in my mind, both Himu and Misir Ali lived in Humayun Ahmed. This is why the characters are popular,” said Mazharul Islam.

His son Nuhash Humayun spoke to BBC Bengal about all the popular characters of his father. He said, “I once asked my father about his characters. Dad said, like abroad: there is Spiderman, Batman or Superman, so are my characters. I find the comparison very interesting.”
“He explained, our wish is not actually to fly in the sky. But when we are young we wish to roam the streets. If there is a money problem, it will be solved. This is also a super power,” said Nuhash about the character of Himu written by his father.
Nuhash said, “Dad explained to me about the character of Himu and Misir Ali like this, Misir Ali is: a logical character, but he faces super natural or supernatural everything. Himu is the opposite. There is something almost supernatural about Himu, but works with logic.”
