Meeting of British High Commissioner with Jamaat Amir


British High Commissioner Sarah Cook paid a courtesy call on Jamaat Amir Shafiqur Rahman. The meeting was held at Jamaat Amir’s office in Bashundhara of the capital on Sunday (January 25).

A circular sent by the Jamaat’s publicity department informed that, in the meeting, various aspects of the 13th National Parliament elections of Bangladesh were held in a free, fair and acceptable manner and issues related to the interests of both countries were openly discussed. Both parties expressed hope that the democracy and democratic institutions of Bangladesh will be strengthened through this election.

Apart from this, both sides expressed hope that friendly relations between the two countries, mutual cooperation including business will be more dynamic in the future.

British High Commission Deputy High Commissioner James Goldman, Head of Political Timothy Duckett and Second Secretary (Political) Kate Ward were also present during the meeting. Apart from this, Jamaat Amir was accompanied by Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain and Jamaat Amir’s foreign affairs advisor Dr. Mahmudul Hassan.
