More than 2,000 prisoners are still out of the arrest after the attack on various prisons of the country during the July-August mass uprising. There are several criminals, including murderers, militants, corrupt terrorists and drug deals. According to sources in the Prisons Department, the five prisons of the country were affected in various ways during the mass uprising. Of these, 5 to 2,220 prisoners escaped. Many of these prisoners have returned voluntarily. The number of prisoners arrested from different places of the country till January 25 and the number of prisoners from different parts of the country is 1,212. The rest of the 5 are still absconding.

The five prisoners who were imprisoned after the attack were Narsingdi District Jail, Sherpur District Jail, Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur, Kushtia District Jail and Satkhira District Jail. Among the anti-government movements of the students and people, the miscreants attacked the Narsingdi District Jail on July 7 and vandalized, set fire and looted. According to sources in the Department of Prisons, five of the absconding prisoners are militants. They were arrested on charges of militant activity during the past government.

Narsingdi prison

Shamim Iqbal, superintendent of Narsingdi District Jail, told Today's newspaper, “There was no prisoner in the jail for 6 months after the attack and arson. Everything has been repaired. The prison alert has been increased on the outer wall, including a barbed wire. Officers and guards are acting in two parts in the morning and afternoon.

Security has also been strengthened in other prisons of the attack. Overall surveillance has been increased. The prisoners have been strictly imposed on the movement. The prisoners are monitoring the prisoners who returned or arrested again.

Mohammad Abdullah-al-Mamun, a senior jail superintendent of Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur, told Today's newspaper, “Six prisoners who have fled the jail have been arrested again. They were kept under special surveillance. The escaped prisoners were kept separated from wearing dandabari and red hats according to the jail code. However, those who have been detained for three months are being kept again with others. Security has been strengthened. '

At a press conference recently, the Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier Syed Md. Mottahir Hossain said there were two weaknesses behind the prisons. One is infrastructure, the other is external. It is the responsibility of the external security on the law enforcement agencies. The attack was caused by the absence of members of the law enforcers. There were also institutional and managerial weaknesses.
