Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron met during the ongoing G20 summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. After the meeting, both the leaders expressed gratitude towards each other and emphasized the strength of India-France friendship. After this meeting, President Macron gave information by posting on social media platform X.

President Macron wrote that thank you my friend Narendra Modi. Nations are stronger when they move forward together. Long live the friendship between India and France. Not only this, Prime Minister Modi also described this meeting as an excellent conversation. He said it was a pleasure to meet President Macron during the Johannesburg G20 summit. Useful discussions took place on many issues. India-France relations are a positive force for the world.

Global cooperation necessary on natural disasters: PM Modi

In the second session of the G20 summit, PM Modi expressed concern over the increasing natural disasters. He said that the number and impact of disasters is continuously increasing around the world, which is a big challenge for humanity. PM Modi said that India had formed the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during its 2023 G20 presidency to increase global cooperation in disaster management. He commended South Africa for giving priority to this issue.

PM Modi said that now is the time to adopt a ‘development-centric’ approach instead of focusing only on ‘response’, so that strong preparations can be made before disasters occur. He also proposed that satellite data from space agencies of G20 countries be shared. He suggested creating a G20 Open Satellite Data Partnership, which would especially be of great help to the Global South (developing countries).
