Trade advisor Sheikh Bashiruddin said that the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) and free trade agreement with Japan will brighten the trade prospects of the two countries. It will open new doors of possibilities for Bangladesh.
He said these things during a courtesy meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminri at the Trade Adviser's office on Tuesday (November 12) afternoon.
During the meeting, they discussed in detail the Free Trade Agreement, Economic Partnership Agreement and the business and trade situation of the two countries.
The advisor said, Bangladesh is an emerging economy country. Bangladesh will be able to create a strong position in the international market if the free trade agreement with Japan.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin mentioned that the relationship between Bangladesh and Japan has been raised to the standards of transparency and trust and said that this relationship will be strengthened in the future through the increase in trade and commerce.
He also said that the interim government took over after the student uprising. Bangladesh has a lot of potential. By ensuring good governance, the government wants to exploit that potential.
Ambassador of Japan Iwama Kiminri said that Japan has a long-standing friendship with Bangladesh. That friendship will deepen through the expansion of trade. Both countries can enjoy trade benefits through dialogue. Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Mohang Salim Uddin was present at this time.
