Flight disruption in Delhi due to dense fog, train movement disrupted

India's capital New Delhi and surrounding areas are covered in thick fog. Flight and train operations are disrupted as visibility drops to zero. Over 200 flights were delayed and four canceled at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). On Wednesday (January 8), the Indian media India Today reported that dense fog in Delhi and several cities in northern India has disrupted airport and rail communications.

Flights that are unable to land at Delhi airport due to low visibility may be affected due to dense fog. The airport authorities said that most flights had to be rescheduled due to the weather, although take-offs and landings were limited.

Airports in Punjab's Amritsar, Jammu, and Uttar Pradesh's Agra are also facing the same situation. Air traffic in these areas is almost at a standstill due to virtually zero visibility.

Not only flights but also rail services are disrupted due to fog. At least 25 trains were delayed on Tuesday, and authorities were forced to reschedule nearly 300 flights.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the ongoing cold front will intensify the situation. The minimum temperature in Delhi may drop to 5 degrees Celsius from Wednesday.

An orange alert has been issued in Delhi and yellow alert for Thursday and Friday due to increasing fog density. A warning has been issued across North India.

Heavy fog has also disrupted traffic in and around Delhi. The lives of common people are being disrupted and precautionary measures have been called to deal with the situation.
