Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend and mother of one, Ashley St. Clair, filed a lawsuit against his artificial intelligence (AI) company XAI last Wednesday. St. Clair alleges that the company’s AI chatbot Grok created offensive fake photos (deepfakes) of him without permission.
The suit, filed in New York, alleges XAI’s product Grok is a generative AI chatbot that uses artificial intelligence to strip, humiliate and sexually assault victims.
St. Clair’s case comes as XAI confirmed last Wednesday that its chatbot will no longer produce nude or offensive images of anyone on Musk’s social media platform X. Recently this chatbot has been used to create nude deepfake images of adults and in some cases children. At one stage, the company made the announcement in the face of widespread criticism.
St. Clair, a 27-year-old author and political commentator, alleges in the lawsuit that Grok created and distributed numerous of his “sexually harassing and degrading” deepfake content at the request of users this month. He said that he had no consent to make his unclothed pictures digitally; However, AI continues to do this.
Another sensational fact has been given in the case. It is said that some X users found a photo of St. Clair when she was 14 and instructed Groke to use it to create nude photos of her. According to the complaint, the chatbot complied with those instructions.
XAI was not immediately available for comment.
St. Clair and Musk are already at loggerheads. Earlier this week, Musk said he would fight to get full custody of his child.
