Condominium construction in Shibuya Ward: Tokyo District Court decides to stop construction

Neighboring residents complained that there was a risk of landslides due to the embankment surrounding the ongoing construction of an apartment building in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. In March, the Tokyo District Court ruled that Shibuya Ward should stop the construction work, stating, “If left unchecked, there is a risk of earth and sand flowing out, endangering the lives of residents.” According to experts, this is the first time a judicial decision has been made regarding administrative regulations on embankments.
