Arunachal Pradesh in competition with each other to woo domestic and international tourists, States like Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana are presenting all the facilities, they are promoting their tribal festivals, agricultural, alcohol, adventures and health tourism scenario as well as religious and spiritual tourism circuit development. Many states and union territories are announcing incentive schemes for its development by giving industry status to hospitality.
The central government is making necessary changes in its policies to resolve tourism by 2047 to make tourism an economy of $ 3 lakh crore and to promote tourism at the domestic level. For example, Arunachal Pradesh is working on a new policy to regulate its 793 homestay. At the same time, he is paying attention to marketing and digital services. Arunachal Pradesh, which is called the land of the dawn mountains, has recently implemented a five -year tourism policy. Through this, this state wants to increase the influx of domestic tourists twice and foreign tourists by 10 times. In the year 2023, more than 1 million domestic tourists came to enjoy the natural beauty and other views.
Arunachal Pradesh Tourism Minister Pasang Dorji Sona told business Standard, ‘There are immense opportunities for tourism from spiritual, wellness, heritage to biodiversity in the state. Homestay has brought a tremendous revolution and has become a magnificent window to see the most amazing scenarios for tourists here. Underlining efforts to increase the number of branded hotels in the state and give industry status to the hotel area, he said, ‘We have a five-star hotel in Tawang. Small hotel series like Cygnet are also coming here. We are also interacting with a boutique hotel brand like postcard hotels to come here.
The Jammu and Kashmir government is also trying to woo the tourists again and it is making all the assurances to give assurances to the enthusiasts of traveling that Kashmir is still the paradise of the world and the magical views like the magical views are not visible anywhere else. Earlier this week, at a tourism program in Delhi, state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that we are paying attention to increasing quality hospitality facilities rather than the number of tourists. He said, “We believe that there is no want to increase the count of tourists here, but we want to identify the state as a state giving quality facilities to tourists.” For this, the state government has recently identified nine new tourist places, for which investment is expected for Rs 5,500 crore for development. States and union territories like Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana are making their tourism policies renewed to increase the influx of tourists, they will have to take a direct competition with traditional tourist centers like Goa, Kerala and Rajasthan in terms of facilities. This is important because this year’s Union Budget has a framework for the development of 50 top tourist destinations in partnership with the states and Rs 2,541.06 crore has been allocated to increase infrastructure, skill development and travel facilities.
An interest-free loan of Rs 3,295.8 crore will be given for 50 years under special assistance for the development of 40 projects in 23 states across the country. The central government has underlined religious and medicine as major areas to increase tourism development. The country’s medical travel area is estimated to reach $ 13.42 billion by 2026.
Pradeep Shetty, vice -president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India, told Business Standard, ‘A lot is happening in the states. Hotels and hospitality are being given industry status. This will definitely speed up local tourism.
Telangana has launched the tourism policy for the next five years, which aims to develop 27 special tourist centers based on the tourism capacity of various fields. These include Yadgirigutta, Bhadrachalam, Nalgonda, Warangal and Charminar clusters. The state aims to attract a new investment of Rs 15,000 crore in the tourism sector in the next five years.
The neighboring state of Telangana is focusing on Karnataka Caravan, Heritage and Health Services Tourism. It is moving ahead with the target of attracting around Rs 8,000 crore as direct investment and creating employment opportunities for 1.5 lakh people. According to the state policy documents, ‘Tourism will play an important role in making Karnataka an economy of $ 1 lakh crore by 2032.’
After the success of Mahakumbh in the north and the Ram temple in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh government has high hopes from the tourism sector in the direction of its target of becoming an economy of $ 1 lakh crore by 2029. Talking about the outline of 12 major tourist circuits, Joint Director (Tourism) in the state government said, ‘We have a network of good roads. Jewar Airport is also set to open at the end of this year. This will increase the number of tourists in the state.
