Bangladesh's second and final Test of the series against hosts West Indies begins tomorrow in Kingston, Jamaica. The visiting team is getting everyone healthy and fit in this test. Taskin Ahmed, who suffered a head injury, is now fit.
The three-match ODI series between the two teams will begin on December 8, four days after the end of the Test series. The BCB selectors were supposed to announce the squad for the ODI series against the Caribbean during the Test series. However, they are worried about the injury of some players in the ODI team.
Bangladesh's injury streak has started with the ODI series with Afghanistan in Sharjah. Mushfiqur Rahim injured his finger in the first ODI of that series. Regular captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto suffered a groin injury in the second match. Both are not playing in the West Indies Test due to injury.
Mushfiqur is not playing in the ODI series after the Test as he has not fully recovered from the injury. The selectors have no qualms about getting Shanto back. However, the reason for their new worries is the heart injury of Tawheed Hriday, the regular middle order batsman of the ODI team.
It is known that Hridiya injured his leg while practicing in Bogra. A hamstring injury has raised concerns over his upcoming tour of the West Indies. His MRI was done in Dhaka today. However, the medical report has not been received yet. The cricket board will take a decision after receiving the report tomorrow.
According to BCC sources, the ODI team may be announced today or tomorrow. But that announcement may also be delayed. If the report shows that the injury is serious then BCB can give the team by excluding Hridiya. In that case, any cricketer of the Test team may be taken as a substitute.
Meanwhile, there is still no information about Shakib Al Hasan staying in the ODI series or not. There was no official comment from the selectors. Shakib's game has created a haze.
BCB director Hannan Sarkar is going to West Indies to join the team after the Test series to watch the ODI series. On the other hand, chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu will return to the country after the Test series.
