Elections for the chairmanship of Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party, which started its journey with the political slogan of 'New Political Settlement, Service and Problem Solving', are going on in Suhrawardy Udyan.
Voting continues throughout the day on Friday (January 10), after the counting of votes, the election results will be announced at the National Council tomorrow, Saturday.
Voting for the chairman election officially started at 9 am today at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, which will continue till 9 pm. About 2 thousand 800 councilors residing in the country and abroad are voting in this election. Country councilors are voting in person and councilors absent due to expatriation and illness are voting online.
The party's campaign secretary Anwar Sadat Tutul said that in the election, AB Party's founding convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, joint convener Lieut. Colonel (retd.) Didarul Alam and founder member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju are contesting for the post of chairman.
The AB party leaders said that according to the constitution, the executive council elections were held on January 27 and 28. Where 21 executive council members were elected against 60 candidates.
After voting for the post of chairman ends today, the elected executive council members will vote to elect the party secretary. The results of the election of chairman and secretary will be declared in the council on Saturday.
