The government has appointed five more prosecutors to serve as state parties at the International Criminal Tribunal.
On Thursday (October 24) night, the Solicitor's Office of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification appointing them.
The 5 appointed prosecutors are – Supreme Court lawyer SM Moinul Karim, Md. Noor Ershad Siddiqui, Sheikh Mahdi, Tarek Abdullah, Tanveer Hasan Joha.
It states that, in accordance with Article 7(1) of the International Criminal Tribunal Act 1973, the appointment of specified persons to conduct cases in the International Criminal Tribunal is provided until further notice.

Earlier, Mohammad Tajul Islam and four other prosecutors were appointed as the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal.
Meanwhile, the International Criminal Tribunal has started the trial of the genocide that took place in July and August during the anti-discrimination student movement. On October 17, after 10 o'clock in the morning, the judges started this trial in the tribunal.
