Saurabh Bharadwaj on Vinai Saxena: The dispute between Delhi government and LG is nothing new. Once again Delhi LG and Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj have come face to face on the issue of waste management. The new issue is related to the approval of the file increasing the financial powers of the MCD Commissioner by more than Rs 5 crore for five solid waste management projects of MCD.
On this issue, it is being said from the LG office that the Delhi Government is delaying the waste management by blocking it on behalf of the Urban Development Ministry.
'LG has lowered the dignity of the constitutional post'
Delhi's Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has fiercely attacked LG on this issue. Bhardwaj said that this is very unfortunate. LG has lowered the dignity of his constitutional post so much. He has become in the habit of fabricating false stories to defame the ministers of the elected government.
The LG office knows very well that their lies will be exposed by the elected government within an hour. Therefore, they have started spreading false and malicious news late at night. So that the ministers, who have huge responsibilities on their shoulders for their constituencies, cannot immediately respond to the propaganda by the LG office.
Objection to giving unlimited power to MCD Commissioner
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the LG office has become so desperate that it wanted to give unlimited powers to the LG's favorite MCD Commissioner without any control. The elected government was ready to increase the financial powers of the Municipal Corporation by more than Rs 5 crore, subject to the approval of the MCD House. It is incomprehensible why LG does not want any kind of check and balance on the MCD Commissioner?
Urban Development Ministry had given its approval
He said that on September 6, 2024, a file was received increasing the financial powers of the MCD Commissioner by more than Rs 5 crore for five solid waste management projects of the Municipal Corporation. The ministry had given its approval the same day. There is also a date stamp on it. The stamp clearly shows that the file was received on 6 September 2024 and the minister approved it on the same day.
Now the LG should explain why the officers working directly under him kept postponing the matter for more than a month even after getting the approval of the Urban Development Minister.
Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that it is also on record that these files have been approved only because of the Supreme Court. Otherwise these officers would have kept these files hanging. The LG should publicly explain what action he will take against the officials who delayed the processing of the file despite giving his approval on 6 September 2024.
