Jamaat leader stabbed to death in Bogra land dispute

A Jamaat leader named Saiful Islam (45) was allegedly stabbed to death due to a land dispute in Bogra.

The incident took place in the city’s Mahbubnagar area on Sunday (March 1) morning. Later he died on the way to Dhaka for better treatment. Another person named Tarek (30) was injured in this incident.

Saiful Islam is the son of deceased Naushed Ali of Khandar area of ​​Bogra city. His original home is in Ramakrishnapur area of ​​Nandigram upazila. Jamaat-e-Islami’s propaganda secretary Iqbal Hossain confirmed that he was the leader and responsible of the ulama department of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Bogra city branch.

According to police and local sources, a group of miscreants attacked Saiful and Tarek with native weapons (knives) in Mahbubnagar area of ​​the city around 10:30 am on Sunday. At that time, the attackers ran away after stabbing them. Local people rescued them around 11 o’clock and took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. The doctor on duty at the hospital advised them to be admitted to the casualty department after the first treatment.

After that, Saiful Islam’s condition was critical, so it was decided to send him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. But he died on the way to Dhaka. The body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The police have detained two people on suspicion of involvement in the murder.

The arrested are Mehedi Hasan Titu and Mostakin of Khandar VIP Road area of ​​Bogra city.

Bogra Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam said that it was initially confirmed that the murder occurred due to a dispute over land. Two people involved in the incident have been arrested. They are being interrogated at the police station. Legal action in this regard is under process.
