Solar module maker Vikram Solar on Wednesday said its five gigawatt capacity fully automated Vallam plant in Tamil Nadu has become operational. With this its total annual production capacity has become 9.5 gigawatt.
The company said in a statement that this factory spread over 27,000 square meters is based on state-of-the-art Topcon technology. The state-of-the-art Vallam plant will add state-of-the-art module production capacity of five gigawatt annually. With this next generation expansion, the company now has a total manufacturing capacity of 9.5 GW per annum.
Vikram Solar Chairman and Managing Director Gyanesh Chaudhary said in the statement, “Commissioning this five gigawatt capacity plant this year was a bold commitment. Accomplishing this is a signal of our readiness to meet the scale, speed and innovation of the demands of the next decade.”

State-of-the-art manufacturing, automation-based quality and technology platforms will become the new benchmark for the sector.” The modules manufactured at the Vallam plant will be supplied to customers across the country. This will help renewable energy companies, commercial and industrial customers.
