Babar Azam equals Virat Kohli’s record in T20 International

New Delhi. Ever since his return to the T20 team, Pakistan fans were expecting a great performance from Babar Azam. Ultimately, he showed an excellent performance against Zimbabwe in the fourth match of the tri-series. In this match played on Sunday, the former Pakistani captain played an inning of 74 runs in 52 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes during the innings. Host Pakistan scored 195 for 5 wickets in the match. In reply, Zimbabwe’s team was reduced to 126 runs in just the 19th over. Babar Azam equaled a record of Virat Kohli during the match.

Thanks to this inning, Babar scored his 38th T20 International half-century. This is the highest by any active batsman in this format. 31 year old Babar has now joined Virat Kohli in the list of batsmen who have scored most half centuries in T20. He scored his 38th half-century in 134 matches and 127 innings, whereas Virat has scored the same number of half-centuries in 125 matches and 117 innings. Rohit Sharma is at third place in this list with 32 half-centuries in 159 matches.

Both Virat and Rohit had retired from T20 Internationals after winning the World Cup in Barbados last year. In such a situation, it is certain that Babar will soon become the player who has scored the most half centuries in this format. Babar has crossed the 50-run mark 41 times, while Virat and Rohit have done so 39 and 37 times. Babar made a comeback in T20 after the Asia Cup where he took part in the three-match series against South Africa. Pakistan had won the series 2-1. There was a lot of pressure on Babar while entering the match against Zimbabwe. He had scores of 0, 11*, 68, 0 and 16 in his last five T20s.
