Experts believe that India's industrial growth has been slow this year, and consumer demand has significantly affected the economic landscape. On an annual basis, IIP growth in FY 2025 was 4%, which was less at a speed of 5.9% in FY 2024.
The provisional data released on Monday by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation has revealed that India's industrial production has increased by 1.2% in May. Industrial production increased by 2.7% on an annual basis in April, a minimum of six months and less than 3% increase in March. Experts believe that India's industrial growth has been slow this year, and consumer demand has significantly affected the economic landscape. On an annual basis, IIP growth in FY 2025 was 4%, which was less at a speed of 5.9% in FY 2024.

The growth rate of industrial production measured through the Industrial Production Index (IIP) was 6.3 percent in the month of May last year. The National Statistics Office (NSO) also revised the industrial production growth for April to 2.6 percent, while it was estimated to be 2.7 percent last month. According to NSO data, the production growth in manufacturing sector decreased to 2.6 percent in May this year, which was 5.1 percent in the same month a year ago. At the same time, mining production declined by 0.1 percent, while it increased by 6.6 percent a year ago. Power generation declined by 5.8 percent, while it increased by 13.7 percent in the same period a year ago. During the April-May period of FY 2025-26, industrial production has increased by 1.8 percent on an annual basis.
