Interpol has issued a red notice against former Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IGP) Benazir Ahmed on corruption charges. Bangladesh Police said on April 7 that Interpol Benazir Ahmed issued a red notice against Ahmed. The notice was issued against any IGP in the history of the country.
Assistant Inspector General of Public Relations and Media Branch of the Police Headquarters (AIG) Enamul Haque Sagar confirmed the Red Notice to today's magazine on Tuesday afternoon.
However, the Red Notice was issued, but the picture and information of Benazir Ahmed on the Interpol website has not yet come to the most wanted list. The police headquarters claimed that some more activities were left. After they are finished, the Red Notice website will also be seen on the website.
AIG said that in an ACC case, he was issued a petition against him.
A reliable source of the police headquarters said that in February, the National Central Bureau (NCB) of the Police Headquarters (NCB) applied for Red Notice on the request of the ACC on the order of the court or the investigating agency ACC. In this process, a court in Dhaka ordered the Benazir to take necessary steps on the basis of the Anti -Corruption Commission (ACC) application.
The NCB officially started contacting Interpol from February after the court directed the ACC application. Immediate action was taken in view of the allegations of financial corruption and crime. The Interpol Red notice was issued on April 7.
The police headquarters said the police did not officially know anything about Benazir Ahmed's current position. He is absconding in the family document.
Meanwhile, more explosive information has come out in the context of ongoing political tensions. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, who left during the student movement on August 8, is currently under the legal review of Interpol. Red notice may be issued against them at any time.
