Pakistani legend Mushtaq Ahmed is not in the two -match Test series against Zimbabwe. Sohail Islam is the spin bowling coach of Bangladesh to fill the vacancy of Mushtaq. Shahriar Nafis, in -charge of the Cricket Board of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed today's magazine today.
Sohail is not inexperienced as a coach. He worked as coach of Bangladesh Tigers a few days ago. He also coached BPL and Dhaka Premier League. Earlier, when spin bowling coach Daniel Vetty was not, Sohail worked as a spin bowling coach.
Bangladesh-Zimbabwe two-match Test series begins on April 23. The first match will be in Sylhet. The two teams will have to change the venue for the second Test. The last Test of the series will begin in Chittagong on April 23. Zimbabwe team is scheduled to come to Dhaka this afternoon to play a two -match Test series. In the meantime, the preparation camp in Sylhet has started in the Bangladesh team in front of the series.
Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons returned home ahead of the Test series against Zimbabwe. Mohammad Salah Uddin is the senior assistant coach. Salah Uddin is one of the most successful coaches in domestic cricket. And Simmons' contract was first up to the Champions Trophy, but it was increased to the 2020 ODI World Cup.
BCB appointed Mushtaq as a spin bowling coach in April last year. There was an agreement with the Pakistani legend until the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup. Later, his contract was extended further.
