Several people from Bangladesh were sent to Russia in Russia. They were later sent to the Ukraine battlefield. In the meantime, some Bangladeshis have also reported death. In this situation, dozens of Bangladeshi families have contacted the Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow to bring their children back home.
According to the news agency AFP report, the Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow has said that about a dozen families have contacted to bring their boys back home. Families complain that their sons have been misinterpreted and joined the Russian army.
Mohammad Akram Hossain, a victim, said that he and his Schalk had enrolled in an employer. They were first promised in Cyprus, later proposed in Russia. When they agreed, they were taken to Russia and joined the Russian army. “We had no idea that we would reach the battlefield,” he said.
Akram, who returned to the country recently, told AFP, “The recruiting agency said that only Russia's work visa was available and we agreed.” “But we never thought that we would be put in such a situation,” he added.
The unemployment rate in Bangladesh is very high. However, due to widespread looting of the past government, the situation in the country has been worse for the past several years. Last year, the economy of the country was further damaged after the end of the Awami League government under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League government in the student movement.
Mohammad Yasin Sheikh, 22, a family member. He was reported to have been killed in the Russian army on March 25. Since then, anxious relatives of Yasin have been sending messages to Bangladeshi diplomats in Moscow. Yasin's uncle Abul Hashem said a friend of Yasin called them during the Eid.
Abul Hashem told AFP, “Yasin's friend himself is fighting for Russian. He is also a Bangladeshi. On the day of Eid, he called us and informed us that Yasin was dead. Later, we get a call from a Russian commander on the same topic. '
Yasin Sheikh's family commented that they gave their son money while leaving Bangladesh in September 2021. A broker promised to give him an electrician work in a Chinese company in Russia. But that work was not given to him. Later in December that year, Yasin was joined to the Russian Army.
Abul Hashem said, “We have spent a lot of money to send him (abroad) and now we are waiting for his body. We have requested the Government of Bangladesh, so that his mother can say goodbye to him for the last time – to take that action. '
AFP could not verify the demands of this family. However, Farhad Hossain, the Affairs of the Bangladesh Embassy in Moscow, said the embassy was aware of the death. “We learned about Yasin Sheikh a few days ago and contacted the Russian authorities a few days ago.
Farhad Hossain also said that the embassy did not confirm Yasin's death or any other Bangladeshi casualties and waiting for the answer from Moscow. However, Hussein confirmed that other Bangladeshis had contacted the embassy. “We are getting a request from parents to their boys, and so far we have responded to about a dozen requests,” he said.
The Ukraine war has had a serious impact on the Russian troops and is making global effort to collect more troops for the Moscow war. No one in Russia or Ukraine has reported how many foreign nationals are working in their army or how many have kept them as prisoners.
Troops from some South Asian countries such as India, Nepal and Sri Lanka have already reported that Russia fought against Ukraine for Russia. They too were shown the temptation of work. Farhad Hossain told AFP on the matter, “Russian authorities have said that those who are fighting for Moscow have signed the agreement, getting paid and being governed according to the rules of war.”
Farhad Hossain could not confirm how many Bangladeshis were believed to have joined the Russian army. However, a Bangladeshi newspaper said that the number could be more than 5 people.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Superintendent Mostafizur Rahman of Bangladesh's capital Dhaka said that a Bangladeshi woman has been arrested and six more cases have been filed on charges of human trafficking. “The operation is underway to arrest others,” he said.
Akram Mohammad Akram Hossain, who claimed to have escaped from the Russian army, warned the Bangladeshi police about the smuggling cycle taken to Russia. He said he first went to Saudi Arabia on the Omarah Visa in September 2021 with a group of 4 Bangladeshis.
Akram Hossain said, “After a few weeks there we go to Russia.” He said he was then given an agreement in Russia. However, even though he did not understand, he signed it because of the money crisis. “From St. Petersburg, we were taken to a camp from St. Petersburg and we spend the night there. The next day, they give some of us military clothing and take training. '
Akram Hossain also said that before he was landed on the battlefield, he fled with a group of Senegal and was able to return home. “I am back after losing a few thousand dollars,” he said. He also said that his shalk is still in the army in Russia. “He regularly calls us to bring him back to Bangladesh,” he said.
