A Russian woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for 'encouraging her husband' to rape Ukrainian women. Kiev's Shevchenkivsky District Court passed the verdict. This information was revealed from the Russian newspaper Pravdar report.
Earlier in April 2022, the Ukraine's Security Service (SSU) division released a Russian army phone call. In that conversation, a woman named Olga Bikovskya was telling her husband Russian army Roman Bikovsky, 'You can rape Ukrainian women, but use protection.'
Radio Liberty's Ukrainian and Russian service journalists confirmed that the couple lives in Fiodosia, Russian -occupied Crimea. Ukrainian authorities include Olga in the International Wanted List on charges of violating war laws. The law enforcement agencies of Ukraine then completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet in the court against Olga Bikovsky (Piniosova) in December 2022.
The Ukraine court announced the verdict on Wednesday (local time) after hearing the case last December. The accused Olga was absent in the court when the verdict was announced. The verdict was given in his absence.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February last year, various international organizations have been accused of numerous war crimes against Russian troops. Of these, civilian killings, rape of women and mass graves are the most discussed.
