The reduction in the top countries this year, significant increase in Bangladesh

The world's largest coal importer has reduced the import of coal in the first quarter of 2021 (January -March). According to the ship tracking company Capler, the news agency Reuters reports that the import of large countries has dropped to the lowest level within three years.

However, in this situation, some of the fast -growing economies have increased coal imports, Bangladesh is one of them.

The top four coal importer – China, India, Japan and South Korea – were the destinations of 5 percent of the world's total coal imports in the world. They all reduced coal imports by 5 percent by the first quarter of 2021. According to Calar data, coal imports have been about 20 million tonnes at this time, which is about 1 million tonnes less than the same period last year.

China is the largest coal user country in the world. The country has reduced the import of coal in the first quarter. The country's imports have dropped from 1 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes, the lowest after the third quarter of 2022. India's coal imports have also decreased by about 5.7 million tonnes.

Basically, these countries have reduced the use of coal due to the increase in green fuel production.

On the other hand, some countries like Türkiye, Vietnam and Bangladesh have imported a record amount of coal in the first quarter of 2021. The import of coal in the Philippines and Malaysia has also increased significantly. Other countries – Thailand, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Morocco and the Netherlands have also seen growth of coal imports. This growth of Bangladesh is about 1 million (1 million) tons.

Experts say that the largest importer of coal has been reduced to the import of coal, but the global coal trade is still active due to the increase in coal imports in some countries including Bangladesh. However, if coal imports are reduced to large countries like China and India, it can have a long -term impact on the trade worldwide.
