Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The army chief went to Khaleda Zia's residence Feroza in Gulshan of the capital today at 8:30 pm on Thursday.
BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter. He said that the army chief left Feroza after 9 pm. According to party sources, the army chief inquired about Khaleda Zia's health during the meeting and wished her speedy recovery.
Shayrul Kabir Khan said, 'The army chief came to inquire about the health of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. At that time, the army chief was accompanied by his wife. They were in turquoise for about 40 minutes.'
He also said, 'When he reached the army chief's residence (security advisor to BNP chairperson) Major General (Retd.) Fazle Elahi Akbar welcomed him. Quoting Fazle Elahi Akbar, Shayrul Kabir said, “The army chief said that he has prayed for the speedy recovery of the BNP chairperson, the former prime minister.”
Meanwhile, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is scheduled to go to the UK next week for better treatment. After her release on August 6 in the changed situation, many diplomats from different countries posted in Dhaka went to Feroza and met Khaleda Zia.
