New Delhi. The Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia started today on 26 December. Australia has started the match being played in Melbourne in baseball style. 19-year-old batsman Sam Constas thrashed Jasprit Bumrah in a way that was rarely seen before in Test matches. Usman Khwaja also supported him well. Playing T20 style, he scored fifty in just 52 balls.
As usual, Jasprit Bumrah started the Indian bowling. On the other hand, Sam Constas played the first ball for Australia. This was also the first ball of his Test career. Mark Taylor had handed him the debut cap some time ago. Sam Konstas has been included in the team in place of Nathan McSweeney. Constas had expressed his intentions even before his debut, but then realized that it was just rhetoric and mind games. But Sam was telling the truth that he was ready to play Bumrah.
Not one or two scoops and reverse scoops three times in Bumrah's over, 32 runs in 2 overs… 19 year old batsman increased his heartbeats.
IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 1 LIVE SCORE: Debutant Kontas hits fifty in T20 style, Bumrah ineffective
Jasprit Bumrah bowled most of the balls out swinging in his first over. Sam Constas was beaten thrice, but he managed to save the wicket in the over. Mohammad Siraj also bowled his first over maiden. After this Bumrah brought his second over. The most special thing about this over was Kontas's reverse scoop play. Although they failed, they had given the message as to what they had come to do. Constas transformed his intention into reality in the 7th over of the innings and scored 14 runs by scoring one scoop and two reverse scoops on Bumrah's ball.
Earlier, India took DRS against Usman Khawaja in the fourth over. Khawaja went ahead and defended the ball of Mohammad Siraj. The ball hit the pad. The umpire rejected the LBW appeal. On this, Indian captain Rohit Sharma took DRS. Replays showed that the ball would have gone over the stumps. In this way one of India's DRS went bad.
Jadeja took the first wicket
When Indian fast bowlers failed to take wickets, captain Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja gave India its first success in his third over. He made Sam Constas LBW. Constas was caught in front of the stumps while defending. Costas himself knew that if the ball had not hit the pads, it would have hit the stumps. As a result he did not even take DRS. Before getting out, Costas played an inning of 60 runs in 65 balls and gave a dream start to Australia.
112 runs in the first session
Australia scored 112 runs for one wicket in 25 overs in the very first session. This is the first time in the current Border Gavaskar Trophy series that a team has batted like this on the first day of the match. With this, Australia has won the battle of the first session on the first day. Losing just one wicket in the first two hours while batting first on a bowler-friendly pitch would be considered an excellent start. As the day progresses, the pitch will become easier for batting.
