Jonaid Saki, the chief coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement, said, 'We are still in the middle of a mass coup. The 24th July Revolution was made possible by a blow to our collective dignity. No one could be stopped even by making a caravan of corpses. The expectation of July that has been created in us is very different from the current reality. In this place the new forces of the coup must be organized. Only then will there be a change in all the forces participating in this coup.'
He said these things in the discussion meeting titled 'Mass Uprising, Desire for Knowledge and Future of New Political Settlement' in the meeting room of Rajshahi University's Deans Complex building on Wednesday evening.
Jonaid Saki said, 'Structurally, whether there is balance and accountability in the hands of those you are handing over power to ensure your safety and freedom. Now the question is whether you will be politically aware and what kind of reforms and changes will warrant you. Everyone is talking about reforms. If you do not enter into the reformation, you will remain in touch. There will be a big gap between your expectations and reality. You will be disappointed. The main way to overcome and fight this frustration is for us to be politically aware.'
The chief coordinator of the mass solidarity movement said, 'We say in the political proposal that we want to repair the state but our political practice is the same as before. Changing this requires the inner strength of a popular uprising. The political practices that have been practiced in the country before the July coup have seen representatives dominate the people. But the essence of democracy was that the people are the source of all power.
A-al Mamun, professor of mass communication and journalism department as a negotiator, said, 'Our release from Shahbagh or Shapla Chattar has not been finalised. Standing on these two binaries, Awami League took a fascist form. We see its final form in 2018 and 2024. On July 14, Sheikh Hasina was called Razakar's granddaughter, causing outrage among the entire population. The main weapon of this mass uprising was death or freedom. It is this word that sets us free. The coup that ignores all the deaths and moves forward has not happened before in Bangladesh. Religion and unconsciousness served as important motivations in our July Uprising. The final form of this is the fall of Sheikh Hasina.
Prof. Farid Uddin Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University also spoke as a speaker on the occasion. The meeting was presided over by Amirul Islam, student advisor of the university. The event was organized by 'Uttaran', a writer's and reader's thread library, and 'Yogasutra', an organization of intellectual and cultural practice.
