Union Minister Jitin Prasad said India can become a reliable global supplier of products leading to the green energy transition. “We must work towards Made in India components to meet the energy demands of every global customer,” he stressed. The Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and IT & Electronics addressed the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Energy. The conference said the Covid pandemic, conflicts between countries and climate change have challenged prevailing trade routes and policy frameworks.
He said that these challenges have particularly exposed the vulnerabilities of supply chains, including the green energy sector. Prasad said supply chain disruptions have created shortages of critical components such as semiconductors, rare earth metals and solar PV materials. On the other hand, rising freight costs and delays at ports have created logistics bottlenecks. The Minister said that in such a situation, India has a golden opportunity, and the country can emerge as a reliable global supplier of energy transition products.
