Eyewitnesses said that before paying respects at Savar's National Memorial, leaders and workers took out stickers written 'Bangladesh Awami League' from their pockets and placed them on a bouquet of flowers. After paying tribute, they again took the sticker from the bouquet. This tribute was paid under the leadership of Habibur Rahman Habib, the former president of the banned organization Chhatra League of Dhaka's Dhamrai Upazila branch, and Siraj, the former vice chairman of the Upazila Parishad. Apart from this, some other people paid tribute with another bouquet of flowers. It is said that 'Great Victory Day, Tribute, Sheikh Hasina, President, Bangladesh Awami League' was written there.
Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the arrest of eight people. He did not identify anyone.
Apart from this, the banned organization held jhtica processions in Maijdi, Sonaimuri, Begumganj and Tungipara of Gopalganj in Noakhali district.
