Shakib Al Hasan has been banned from bowling in all competitions under the England Cricket Board (ECB) for failing to pass the bowling action test. In a statement tonight, the BCB said Shakib has been banned from bowling in all competitions under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). As a result, Shakib will not be able to bowl in domestic cricket competitions and international cricket outside Bangladesh.
The ban was imposed based on the results of an assessment conducted at an ICC approved testing center in England. Shakib can return to bowling only after the action is corrected. But this time he can only play as a batter. Shakib has already contacted the laboratory in Chennai to test the bowling action. If he gets India visa, he will go to Chennai to take the exam after the ongoing Lanka T-Ten Super League. Before that he will go from Sri Lanka to UAE to get India visa. If you don't get Indian visa then you have to go to England to take the exam again.
Shakib went to England last September to play a match for Surrey in the County Championship in England. He also bowled great in the match. But the umpires gave a report on his suspicious bowling action. According to sources, Shakib initially wanted to test the bowling action in Chennai. At that time, he went to England saying that he would have to wait a long time to take the exam as the renovation work was going on in the laboratory in Chennai. He took his bowling test at Loughborough University in Birmingham earlier this month. Where it was seen, he exceeded the maximum elbow extension limit of 15 degrees in bowling action. Shakib's bowling has been banned in England since December 10.
According to clause 11.3 of the ICC Rules for Illegal Bowling Actions, if a national cricket federation bans a player from bowling in its domestic competition, the ICC will enforce the ban in international cricket and domestic competitions of other national cricket federations. The ban takes effect immediately upon receipt of formal notice and does not require any additional formalities.
The BCB also said that under ICC Article 11.4, Shakib can apply for re-evaluation at an ICC-approved testing centre. If his bowling action is found to be valid as a result of this test, he can return to bowling in international and all domestic cricket competitions.
But according to BCB notification, any domestic cricket in Bangladesh can be played. As such, there is no obstacle for him in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
