After Arsenal, Liverpool stumbled to Fulham. They fell behind and lost twice in the English Premier League on Saturday. Diogo Jota scored a late goal at Anfield to save 10-man Liverpool.
Arne Slott's disciples drew the second consecutive match in the league. Liverpool drew 3-3 with Newcastle United. This time they played with one less for more than an hour and shared the points with Fulham 2-2.
Andres Pereira got Fulham on the scoresheet in the 11th minute. His acrobatic volley from Anthony Robinson's cross hit the thigh of Liverpool's Andy Robertson and beat goalkeeper Alisson.
Harry Wilson would have got the second goal six minutes later. But Robertson saved the team after seeing the red card for tackling him.
Cody Gakpo equalized in the 47th minute. He shook the net by heading Mohamed Salah's cross. But Fulham went ahead again. Rodrigo Muniz made it 2-1 with a cross from Robinson in the 76th minute.
Liverpool were desperate to equalise. In the end, Slott avoided the second defeat in 23 matches in all competitions. Jota beat Fulham keeper Bern Leno with a superb effort.
Despite drawing two matches in a row, Liverpool did not deviate from the top spot. They are number one with 36 points in 15 matches. Second-placed Chelsea (31) have a chance to close the gap on them to two points. The Blues host Brentford on Sunday.
