Today the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Dinajpur at 11.8 degrees Celsius. At this time, the lowest temperature recorded in Dhaka was 17.2 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperature is between 11 and 17 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country. Day temperature has also decreased.
Shahnaz Sultana, a meteorologist of the Directorate of Meteorology, told Ajker newspaper that the temperature dropped by one degree Celsius in various parts of the country on Thursday night. Temperatures may drop another degree on Friday. Along with this, the daytime temperature is also decreasing. The temperature will drop further in the next two days, but the temperature may rise slightly in the next few days.
Shahnaz Sultana said, the feeling of winter will increase slightly from Saturday, December 7. After the middle of this month, cold currents may flow. There is no threat of cold front over the next few days, but temperatures will gradually drop across the country.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has given bad news about cold currents and hailstorms. The three-month weather forecast says 12 cold spells are expected in the country from December to February, of which four will be severe (4 to 6 degrees Celsius). Also, heavy fog during the last night and hail and thunderstorms during the latter half of February. Temperatures will drop gradually, but overall normal rainfall is likely.
However, at times fog may persist till noon in northern, northwestern and northeastern regions and the feeling of winter may increase. In the latter half of February, there may be thunderstorms with hailstorm for one or two days in some parts of the country.
Cold and thick fog in Panchgarh
Panchagarh representative said, the severity of winter is increasing in Panchagarh. The temperature in the district dropped to 12.3 degrees Celsius on Friday morning. The entire area was covered in thick fog, the sun was not visible throughout the day. Vehicles are forced to move with headlights on. Over the past few days, the intensity of the winter has intensified since evening, but thick fog from early morning on Friday made the situation more difficult.
Earlier on Thursday also the temperature of Panchagarh was 12 degrees Celsius. Such a sudden increase in winter is causing havoc in the public life of the locals.
Winter is also increasing in Tentulia, according to Met Office data, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.3 degree Celsius at 9 am on Friday morning.
Jitendra Nath Roy, senior observer of Tentulia Meteorological Office, said that several cold currents may flow in the region from mid-December. Due to dense fog, the sunlight cannot reach the surface, the severity of winter is felt more.
Going to the ground, it was seen that the working people are going to their work ignoring the cold. Bus driver Zakir Hossain said, 'It was feeling mild winter for a few days, but in the morning the entire area was covered in fog. Can't see far, cold and fog make driving difficult.'
Karimul, a van driver in the Panchagarh Sadar area, said, 'People are not going out due to the thick fog, so they are not getting much rent. We have to wait for the passengers ignoring the cold to arrange pulses and rice.'
Talked to Hasan Ali, a day laborer in front of the Panchagarh cinema hall. He said, 'Because of the winter, the owners are not working, I have not got any work. So I'm going back home.'
