BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir strongly condemned the attack on the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, India.
He condemned the incident in a statement on Tuesday (December 3) afternoon. BNP Joint Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu sent this statement to the media.
Fakhrul said that the attack on the premises of the Assistant High Commission by the members of the organization named 'Hindu Sanchash Samiti' is believed to be pre-planned. Entering the Assistant High Commission and taking down the Bangladeshi flag, setting it on fire and vandalizing it is a clear violation of the Geneva Convention.
He said, “We would request the Government of India and the people of India, that using hatred in Bangladesh as a strategy for your domestic politics will create lasting tension between the two countries.”
The Secretary General of BNP also said, “We hope that the Indians will respect the democratic aspirations of the citizens of new Bangladesh and help the justice by returning the leaders of the previous fascist Awami regime who are staying in India.”
