On the occasion of Armed Forces Day-2024 celebrations, a felicitation program was organized for the awardees of the Great War of Independence and other brave freedom fighters and their close relatives. It was organized at 'Army Multipurpose Complex' in Dhaka Cantonment. This information was informed in a circular sent by the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
It is said that on this occasion, Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman exchanged greetings with the titled and brave freedom fighters and their close relatives.
In the ceremony, the Army Chief presented medals to a total of 28 Army personnel who received 5 Army Medals, 5 Distinguished Service Medals and 18 Distinguished Service Medals in recognition of their various heroic deeds during peacetime in the financial year 2023-2024.
At the beginning of the program, a summary of the heroic deeds of the titled and heroic freedom fighters during the liberation war and the praiseworthy actions of the peacetime medaled soldiers was presented.
Honored and heroic freedom fighters, their next of kin, senior military officers and army personnel, invited guests and media persons were present on the occasion.
