BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left Dhaka for UK on a 10-day visit. He left Dhaka with his wife on a Bangladesh Biman flight (BG 201) this Saturday morning.
BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed this information.
According to party sources, Mirza Fakhrul's trip to the UK is for political and party purposes. During the visit, Mirza Fakhrul will meet BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman who is in UK.
Meanwhile, another party source says that after Mirza Fakhrul returned to the country on December 11, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may leave the country on December 13 for treatment. Preparations are being made for that.
The source also said that Khaleda Zia will be treated in the UK first. After that he can also go to USA for treatment from there.
