Ivory Coast has set the world record for the lowest team runs by being all out for just 7 runs in international T20.
The unexpected record match took place in the sub-regional African qualifiers of the T20 World Cup. In the beginning, Nigeria batted and made a huge collection of 271 runs for 4 wickets. In response, Ivory Coast's innings ended in just 7 runs in 7.3 overs.
Ivory Coast opener Ouattara Mohammed was the first batsman to score four runs before being dismissed. Did not know at the time of departure, this will be the team's highest score! There was no boundary in their innings! Only Mimi Alex and keeper batsman Maiga Ibrahim managed to score runs in single digits. 6 of the batters were out by Dak.
Nigeria won the match by a huge margin of 264 runs. Despite winning by such a big margin, it could not be a record. Because the record of beating Gambia by 290 runs by a bigger margin is Zimbabwe's. That happened last month.
The record for the lowest run in international T20 so far was 10 runs. The Isle of Man set that record in 2023. After that, Mongolia set the same record against Singapore last September.
