Bangladeshi girl trafficked to India for employment, the process of repatriation is underway


A teenage girl was trafficked from Bangladesh to Odisha, India with the lure of a job. Later she was forced to work in a local massage parlour. After months of unpaid work, the girl ran away and wandered in the Link Road area of ​​Madhupatna in Odisha's Cuttack. He was rescued from there by the police of Madhupatna police station.

This information is known from the report of Odisha TV. Madhupatna police rescued him on November 10. Madhupatna police confirmed that the girl is a Bangladeshi citizen after preliminary interrogation. However, no documents were found with the girl.

Concerns about human trafficking in the state have increased after the incident was reported in the local media. The girl alleged that a person known on Facebook brought her from Bangladesh to India by luring her with a job. According to his statement, he was first taken to Calcutta. From there she was brought to Cuttack via Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar and forced to work unpaid in a massage parlour.

The Madhupatna police found him alone in the Link Road area of ​​Cuttack and placed him under the custody of the local Child Welfare Committee (CWC). A joint investigation is underway with the local administration. Bangladesh High Commission is being contacted to confirm the nationality of the girl as she does not have any identity card.

Police said that steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the girl and verify the veracity of the complaint. Besides, efforts are being made to identify and arrest people involved in trafficking.

Child Welfare Committee Chairman Pramod Acharya said, 'Madhupatna police rescued the girl on November 10 and brought her to us. We know that he is a Bangladeshi. But he has no identity card or travel document.'

Pramod Acharya also said, 'He was brought from Dhaka to Kolkata with the promise of a job due to the financial needs of his family last August-September. He was then taken to Bhubaneswar and later to Cuttack, where he was forced to work illegally in a massage parlour. Investigation is going on, we are trying to bring him back to his country. We have contacted the DCP in this regard.'
