Bangladesh's veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been ruled out of the series after injuring his left finger while fielding in the first ODI against Afghanistan. He is currently in rehabilitation. Regular training is going on under the doctor's advice. But it will take more time for him to return to the field – said BCB.
Mushfiq's finger injury is serious. It is said that it may take more than six weeks for him to fully recover. According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sources, Mushfiqur is currently doing regular gym under the supervision of a fitness trainer at the academy ground in Mirpur and is also following the rehabilitation process carefully.
If Mushfiqur returns to the field without a full recovery, his injury may worsen and he may have to stay out for a long time, BCB doctors have advised.
BCB has decided not to rush Mushfiqur back at the moment. Board sources confirmed that they are taking whatever is necessary for Mushfiq. He emphasized on the health and safety of the players.
Meanwhile, BCB is going to announce the team for the ODI series against West Indies. Captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto is returning. He was ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan due to injury. Shanta is now fully recovered.
However, there are fears about Mushfiqur's return. The Bangladesh team for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies will be announced this week.
