Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla plan to visit South Asia. As part of this tour, they can visit India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, according to the country's media Daily Mirror.
The Daily Mirror quoted a royal family source as saying, 'It is very exciting to plan such a visit. The King and Queen's visit to South Asia is not only politically and culturally important for Britain. It will also strengthen our country's strategic position on the global stage.'
Buckingham Palace announced the news of the King's cancer last February. However, the doctors said that Raja's treatment is progressing well. He will be able to go on tour next year.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met recently at the G-20 summit. In this context, there are reportedly plans to send members of the royal family on a 'diplomatic mission' to strengthen post-Brexit Britain-India economic ties.
The Daily Mirror also reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started planning for this possible visit. Proposed tours for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are also being drafted. Apart from this, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his desire to organize a visit for the King and Queen.
Earlier in 2019, the king visited India. The main topics of that visit were climate change, sustainability and social economy.
King Charles III made a stopover at the Sokia International Holistic Health Center in Bengaluru on his way back from Samoa last October. He took this break as advised by doctors to rest after a long journey.
