65.11 percent voting in Maharashtra

The bumper voting during the assembly elections in Maharashtra on Wednesday broke the record of three decades. According to the Election Commission, 65.11 percent voting took place in 288 assembly seats in the state, which is the highest in the last 30 years. Earlier in the 1995 assembly elections, Maharashtra had recorded 71.7 percent voting.

A look at the 2019 elections

In Maharashtra, 61.44 percent votes were cast in the 2019 assembly elections. Even in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, voting was 61.33 percent. Rural areas, which are known for higher participation in elections, remained at the forefront this time too. The highest voting percentage of 84.79 percent was recorded in Karveer constituency of Kolhapur. 73.68 percent voting took place in Gadchiroli district. In contrast, urban centers like Mumbai witnessed 52.07 per cent voting, while Mumbai suburban witnessed 55.77 per cent and Thane 56.05 per cent.
