Manish Sisodia sought relaxation in bail conditions Supreme Court seek response from CBI and ED ANN


Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has demanded relaxation in the bail conditions. The Supreme Court has issued notice to CBI and Enforcement Directorate on Sisodia's petition. The court has said that it will hear the case after two weeks. He will try to dispose of this application in the next hearing.

The Supreme Court had granted bail to Manish Sisodia on August 9 this year in the cases of CBI and ED related to the liquor scam. Justice BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan had granted bail to Sisodia on two personal bonds of Rs 10 lakh each. Also, the court had set a condition that he would appear before the investigating officer every Monday and Thursday.

Sisodia has appeared before the investigating officer more than 60 times

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Sisodia before the bench headed by Justice BR Gavai, said that he is a senior leader. After getting bail, he has appeared before the investigating officer more than 60 times. Now this order should be relaxed.

Court also sought answers from ED and CBI

On the demand for bail by senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Sisodia, the judges said that they will give orders after listening to the other side. He has issued notice to CBI and ED asking them to reply.

What was the matter?

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi was arrested by both the CBI and ED in corruption and money laundering cases related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. He was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023, for alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-repealed Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The next month, ED arrested him on March 9, 2023 in a money laundering case registered on the basis of CBI FIR. He resigned from the Delhi Cabinet on February 28, 2023.
