BCB President handed over Tk 20 lakh to Sabina


Bangladesh won the women's tournament for the second time in a row by defeating the hosts Nepal 2-1 at the Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu on October 30. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Farooq Ahmed announced a prize of Tk 20 lakh for the winning footballers due to such success of women footballers. The BCB president handed over the money to Bangladesh captain Sabina Khatun on Wednesday afternoon.

Captain Sabina Khatun was accompanied by team manager Mahmuda Akhtar at the check handing over ceremony on Wednesday. Board President Farooq Ahmed, BCB Director Fahim Sinha and Nazmul Abedin Fahim were on behalf of BCB.

After handing over the cheque, board president Farooq Ahmed said, 'You know that we have become champions of Saf. Cricket and football are not different here. All sports. We are very proud as Bangladeshis. Even more happy because, has managed to become champion twice in a row. It's not a fluke at all. The girls' team proved it again. Thank you again for making us proud. Hopefully, women's football will go further under the leadership of the new president of the Football Federation. '

Football team captain Sabina Khatun thanked BCB and said, 'First of all I would like to thank all the honorable directors of the cricket board, especially the president of the board. Cricket Board was by our side even after becoming clear champion last time, they are also this time. These cricket board issues inspire us. The way everyone motivates us from all sectors is a joy for us. '

Nazmul Hasan Papon-led cricket board awarded Sabina-Sanjidad 50 lakh taka after winning the championship in the last season. This time, however, the amount of money has decreased by more than half.
