Manipur Violence: Last week, six people were killed by suspected Kuki militants in Manipur. Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed grief over the matter and said that those responsible for this heinous crime will soon be brought to justice.
In his first reaction after the fresh violence broke out in the state, Biren Singh said a search operation was underway to find the killers of three women and children, whose bodies were recovered from a river in Jiribam district last week. The Chief Minister described the killing of women and children as a crime against humanity.

What is the matter?
Manipur has been in the grip of violence for almost 18 months, caste conflict is showing no signs of decreasing. Amid the growing crisis, the Center last week reimposed AFSPA in six areas from where it was lifted a year ago, triggering a fresh wave of protests in the Imphal Valley.
These six people were missing from the displaced persons camp in Jiribam since November 11. This camp was created after an encounter between terrorists and security forces in which 10 insurgents were killed.
