Pollution in Delhi: Due to increasing pollution, GRAP-3 rules have been implemented in Delhi. Under this, entry of all diesel buses below BS-6, whether BS-4 or BS-3, is completely banned. Despite this ban, are such buses still entering Delhi? To know this, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai reached Kashmiri Gate bus stand on Saturday.
During inquiry, Minister Gopal Rai found that buses with BS-3 and BS-4 diesel engines have come to this bus stand even today. These buses have reached Delhi from other states. The minister said that challan for two such buses has also been issued today.
One of these buses had come from Haryana and the other bus had come from Uttarakhand. A challan of Rs 20-20 thousand has been issued for both the buses. Apart from this, challan is also being issued for those buses which do not have pollution certificate. During the surprise inspection, Minister Gopal Rai also gave strict instructions to the officials that no relaxation should be given to the banned buses. All the buses entering Delhi should be thoroughly checked and only then should they be allowed entry.
During this, he said that a research report has come regarding the people who are facing the brunt of pollution in Delhi. In which it has been found that 30 percent pollution is from within Delhi and the remaining 70 percent pollution is from outside i.e. from neighboring states.
The minister said that diesel buses are continuously being sent to Delhi from the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana where there are BJP governments. Gopal Rai alleged that BJP governments are deliberately sending diesel buses, which are banned, to increase pollution in Delhi.
Gopal Rai said that we had also written letters to the governments of neighboring states. It was said in it that till the pollution does not increase in Delhi during the winter season, do not send diesel buses. But he did not agree. Now after the implementation of GRAP-3, we were forced to impose this restriction. Despite the ban, the governments of Haryana, UP and Uttarakhand have banned the entry of buses which include BS-3 and BS-4 diesel vehicles. They are also being sent to Delhi.
He alleged that BJP has decided to increase pollution in Delhi and play with the lives of the people of Delhi. Why do BJP governments want to increase pollution in Delhi? Gopal Rai said that among the banned buses whose challans were issued today, one bus is from Uttarakhand and one bus is from Haryana. We are trying within Delhi. BS-3 petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles have been banned so that pollution does not increase. Only vehicles carrying essential commodities have been exempted.
Gopal Rai said that despite this, BJP governments are increasing the pollution of Delhi by sending diesel buses from all sides. He said that if this continues further then all such buses will be strictly challaned and they will be banned.
