Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subhendu Adhikari said on Tuesday that if attacks on minority Hindus continue in the neighboring country, protests will be held at the India-Bangladesh border in Petrapole, West Bengal.
< p style="text-align: justify;">According to news agency PTI, the leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly was talking to official reporters. Expressing concern over reports of alleged attacks on Hindus in various parts of Bangladesh, he stressed on ensuring immediate safety of minorities.
‘Will protest at Petrapole border if attacks don't stop’
The official warned, ‘‘The reaction to the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh will be according to Newton's third law of motion, which says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Bangladesh should understand that it is its duty to protect its minorities and respect their rights. We want to warn the Mohammad Yunus government of Bangladesh that if the attacks on Hindus do not stop, we will protest at the Petrapole border.’’
‘India cannot ignore the plight of Bangladeshi Hindus’
Shubhendu Adhikari stressed that given the cultural and historical ties between the two countries, India cannot ignore the plight of Bangladeshi Hindus. Adhikari, along with other BJP leaders, participated in a protest march organized by a religious organization in Kolkata on Tuesday.
Every action will have an equal and opposite reaction
The BJP leader said, ‘‘I was watching some videos and speeches from Bangladesh, in which radicals are asking people to boycott shops and businesses run by Hindus. We will ask them to stop this hatred otherwise according to Newton's third law, every action will have an equal and opposite reaction.’’
