No one can be given responsibility because of which the government is controversial: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, 'The previous caretaker government and the current government are not the same. This government has come at a critical moment in the movement of students. As a result, this government has to make reforms in various fields besides elections. The government has to give time for this and we have to cooperate with the government by showing patience.'

Mirza Fakhrul Islam said these things while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the Martyr President Ziaur Rahman Memorial Football Tournament organized by District BNP at Barabari Shaheed Abul Kashem University Ground of Lalmonirhat on Tuesday afternoon.

Addressing the government, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'No one can be given responsibility because of which the government will be controversial. Because this head of government is in charge of a world class person. We must remember that the nation should not miss the opportunity created today through the student-led popular uprising to restructure the state. If this opportunity is missed, our existence as a nation will be endangered. I want to emphasize this point.'

BNP Secretary General said, 'Due to the negative talk of democratic forces, the friends of fascism are raising their heads again. Patience is the only way to solve the crisis facing the nation. The erstwhile fascist Awami League government always conspired, tortured, tortured BNP to destroy it. This Awami League has made about 700 people disappear by filing false cases against about 6 million people. They wanted to establish fascism by disappearing and killing thousands of people, they wanted to establish a one-party rule.'

BNP Secretary General also said, 'The market has gone out of control. The government should act to regulate the market. But when the elected government comes, all the existing problems will be solved. Elections and reforms are needed for this.'

Mirza Fakhrul said, “By God's grace, hegemony was defeated for the second time through the student uprising on August 5, 2024, the fascists were defeated. Today we have taken an oath, we will take people with us and stop hegemony. For this, if necessary, I will build a strong movement.'

This BNP leader said, 'We are repeatedly talking about elections. Because we believe that no reform initiative can succeed without the active participation of the people. Such participation is only possible through an elected parliament.'

BNP Secretary General said, 'Ziaur Rahman completely changed Bangladesh after getting the responsibility of managing the state. He brought one-party rule to multi-party democracy. He turned the closed economy into a free market economy. In all cases, he created a new possibility for Bangladesh and the party he founded, BNP, has been struggling for a long time to establish the philosophy of Bangladeshi nationalism. Khaleda Zia has already come to power three times with the people. BNP is still fighting for democracy.

Fakhrul Islam said, 'Politicians not only aspire to return to power, they have sacrificed their lives to free Bangladesh from the grip of Sheikh Hasina, endured oppression and torture and are working tirelessly.'

Addressing the interim government, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'I want to say again, remove the garbage from the state institutions and create an environment for holding elections soon. You have been given that responsibility and we are supporting you. Now you should cooperate with us. Don't try to mislead the people that we are eager to return to power.'

Bangladesh Football Federation president Tabith Awal, BNP Dhaka North convener and former national football team captain Aminul Islam, BNP co-organizing secretary Abdul Khalek and rural development affairs secretary Farhad Hossain were present under the chairmanship of BNP organizing secretary and former deputy minister Asadul Habib Dulu.
