Mission Green Bangladesh received PMI Social Impact Award

Mission Green Bangladesh, an environmentalist and voluntary organization, received the 'PMI Social Impact of the Year Award-2024' in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the best social project management in the public and private sector in Bangladesh.

The award was given at a grand ceremony organized by the international organization PMI Bangladesh Chapter at the Radisson Blue Water Garden in the capital on Saturday (November 9).

Mission Green Bangladesh executive director Ahsan Roni and project director agriculturist Abul Bashar Miraj accepted the award.

It is known that PMI has been working on the best projects around the world since its inception almost 55 years ago (in 1969). Currently PMI is working with 304 chapters in 180 countries of the world.

After accepting the award, Ahsan Roni said, “This journey is ours with the conviction of protecting the environment from the extreme disaster of Bangladesh. That's why we have tried to work solution based on environment from the beginning. Planting trees in 53 places in one day across the country is also the initial step of that effort. Gradually, we have organized more than 200 tree plantation and environmental awareness programs across the country. It is a great honor for us to organize such a grand event as a youth organization.

He said, it is a great honor for us to receive such an international award for working for the welfare of the country's environment, leaving behind domestic and foreign big institutions and projects. This achievement proves that young people can conquer the world's best recognition with their own enthusiasm. On behalf of Mission Green Bangladesh, our main goal is the welfare of the country's environment through more big events in the future.

Agriculturist Abul Bashar Miraj said, our plantation activities are not limited to environmental protection only. It is working towards a larger goal—a commitment to build a green and livable Bangladesh for future generations. We have no alternative to such activities if we have to deal with major challenges like environmental pollution, climate change and global warming. This award is not only a recognition of our work, but it will give us more enthusiasm and motivation to turn our future green dreams into reality.

It may be noted that recently, in recognition of its outstanding contribution to sustainable development and environmental protection, 'Mission Green Bangladesh' has received 'SDG Brand Champion Award 2024' organized by Bangladesh Innovation Conclave, Bangladesh Brand Forum and Sustainable Brand Initiative courtesy of Akiz Bashir Group. Mission Green Bangladesh received this award for its significant contribution in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing air pollution and combating climate change through tree planting activities.
