Enforcement Directorate: Last year, a sensational case of fraud came to light in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Cheater Kiran Patel duped people a lot by posing as Additional Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, after which the ED cracked down on him. Now ED has filed a charge sheet against Kiran Patel and others who cheated people by posing as Additional Director in the Prime Minister's Office.
Had even taken security from Jammu and Kashmir government
The ED's charge sheet revealed that the accused had obtained security from the Jammu and Kashmir government by posing as an officer posted in the Prime Minister's Office, due to which there was a huge loss to the government's treasury. Accused Kiran Patel is a resident of Ahmedabad.
During the investigation, ED had come to know that the accused Kiran Patel had also cheated many big businessmen of Gujarat by luring them to do business in Kashmir. In the year 2023, ED had raided the premises of accused Kiran Patel and others and recovered many electronic and documentary devices.
Called himself a PMO official
Patel was arrested in March on charges of posing as a top official in the Prime Minister's Office, after which a local court granted him bail on August 29, 2023. At that time the court directed the accused's lawyer to fill a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh along with two sureties.
During his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, swindler Kiran Patel was given the usual facilities given to PMO officials, including a bulletproof car, security personnel and official accommodation in a five-star hotel. Patel's wife Malini Patel also faces charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy.
