President-elect Donald Trump has nominated long-time ally Brooke Rollins as Secretary of Agriculture. On Saturday (November 23) evening, Trump announced the nomination of Rollins, head of the America First Policy Institute, a research and policy-making organization. Through this, the work of nominating all the posts of Trump's new administration is over. The British media reported the news.
“As the next Secretary of Agriculture, she will lead efforts to protect America's farmers, who are truly the backbone of our country,” Trump said in a statement after nominating Brooke Rollins.
Brooke Rollins has long been a close aide to Trump. He is the co-founder and president of the America First Policy Institute, a right-wing think tank that supports Trump's policies.
Rollins previously worked at the White House. He was the director of the Office of American Innovation during Trump's first term. In addition, Rollins served as acting director of the White House's Domestic Policy Council.
Raised on a farm, Rollins was involved with national agricultural organizations such as Future Farmers of America and 4H from an early age. Rollins studied agricultural development at Texas A&M University. He then worked as a lawyer.
As agriculture secretary after Senate approval, Rollins will oversee farm subsidies, federal nutrition programs, meat sector inspections and other aspects of the nation's farm, food and forestry industries.
Rollins' nomination completes the nominations for all positions in the new Trump administration. Trump has arranged a new administration with 15 people. But all will need Senate approval to receive final appointments.
